Are clinical trials safe?

The participant's wellbeing is always the #1 priority of the study, clinical studies must take all the needed measures to make sure participants are safe at all times. Some measures include:

✅ Before trials can even begin, new drugs and therapies have to go through years of testing, before they are used in clinical trials on humans

✅ Every trial has to be approval by an independent ethics committee registered with the Australian Government’s National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC)

✅ Every trial must follow regulations and guidelines set out by Good Clinical Practice (GCP)

✅ Every volunteer has to go through medical questions specific to the trial, to make sure it is safe for them to take part

✅ Every volunteer is assessed by a qualified doctor and goes through extensive medical examinations

How do I get started with a clinical trial?

We have a simple 6-step process for helping volunteers to participate in trials:

  1. Apply online for free, using the form on this page
  2. Fill out a short questionnaire so we can see which trials are suitable for you
  3. We may phone you if we need to ask you anything, or if you need to ask us anything
  4. If we have a trial that seems to be a good fit, you'll be invited to attend a screening visit at a local clinic, where a doctor will confirm that the trial is right for you
  5. You'll then be invited to participate in the trial
  6. After you have completed your participation, you'll be paid for your time

What are clinical trials?

💭 Clinical trials are medical research studies conducted with human volunteers. These studies are the fastest and safest way to find treatments that improve people's health and save lives

💭 Trials vary in duration, some are very short and others slightly longer. It really just depends on what the goals of the study are

💭 Some trials are looking for people with specific illnesses or conditions, while others are looking for healthy participants

💭 Participants can choose to opt-out of a trial at any time and for any reason; no questions asked!
